That morning, January 20, 2019, Sabers Pungli activists gathered in the Joglo Sate Kelinci in Beji Village, Batu City. They are not alone. There are dozens of general managers of hotels in Batu City. Also attending was the Mayor of Batu and the head of the Environmental Office of Batu City.
When hotel managers join our activities, this is what happens. They go down to the river, pick up whatever garbage is found, put it in a sack, and lift it together upward, complete with smell and dirty. There is no word that better describes it all, besides awareness involved. They consciously involved themselves in the action to fight garbage. They feel partially responsible, because the tourism industry is also the biggest contributor of waste in Batu City.
